Reception Blog

Friday 20th July 2018

Well what lovely but very busy week we have had, we can’t believe it is our last one in Reception!

We have been completing fun activities in Phonics and Maths across the week.

On Tuesday we welcomed all the parents / carers into our class to open the End of Year Reports. Everyone was pleased with the progress we have all made this year which was lovely to hear. In the afternoon we had Pop Project in school. We always look forward to their visit, we had a fantastic time!

On Wednesday we started our day with a PE session with Mr Fitzpatrick and after lunch we had a wedding party! As you probably already know Miss Davies is getting married over the summer holiday so when she comes back in September she will be Mrs Rogers. We decided to combine our end of year celebration with a celebration for Miss Davies too. First we listened to the Wedding March that is played as the bride enters the church. We then had lots of fun activities – Pin the veil on the bride, throw the jewels through the wedding rings, Limbo, a bubble machine and lots of dancing! We then had ‘Wedding Food’. We decorated the tables with white cloths, confetti and table signs before sitting down to eat lots of lovely party food. Miss Davies was extremely surprised! Following the ‘Reception’ we gave Miss Davies some wedding gifts which nearly made her cry! We all had a fantastic afternoon which was finished off with a class photo with our selfie props.

On Thursday we had our ‘Awards Assembly’. Well done to Sienna for achieving the Speller of the Term, Oliver for achieving the Pupil of the Term and to Emily for achieving Pupil of the Year.

On Friday we had our ‘Leavers Assembly’. This was an emotional morning as the current Year 6 were the first class that Mrs Foy taught at our school. We wish them well as they begin their next journey in their learning and I’m sure they will come back to visit us.

Well this is the final blog of the school year, we would just like to say it has been a pleasure getting to know both the children and the parents / carers and we wish you lots of success as you continue your journey through school.

                                                          Have a lovely summer holiday!

Love from Mrs Foy, Miss Davies and Mrs Churton
