Welcome to Lowton Junior and Infant School, encouraging growth at every stage of your child’s development.
Friday 20th July 2018
We have had such a wonderful last week in Year 1.
All week we’ve been working on a musical project with Year 2. To get us ready for the summer holidays we’ve been learning some ‘seaside’ themed songs. We learnt what ‘sea shanties’ are and had a go at composing our own called ’We love Lowton School’. We then played different musical instruments to accompany our songs. At the end of the week, groups performed to each other.
Wednesday was a great day as we spent it at Blackpool Zoo – which was a brilliant finish to our ‘Amazing Animals’ topic. All of the children were so sensible and complimented on their behaviour by staff at the Zoo. Thank you to all of the parents who came along and helped with the trip – we could not do such exciting things without your support.
Our highlights at the Zoo were – watching the sea lion show, going on a train ride around the zoo, touching a live snake and spotting the gibbons, giraffes, otters, gorillas and chimpanzees!
Our ‘Pupil of the week’ was Sophie for starting to present her work so much more neatly. This has been Sophie’s target for a while and I am so please that she has started to put effort into her handwriting. Keep it up in Year 2!
Have a lovely summer break,
Miss Davies and Mrs Kenyon
