Welcome to Lowton Junior and Infant School, encouraging growth at every stage of your child’s development.
Friday 5th October 2018
In maths this week we have been continuing to add two-two-digit numbers. We began by using maths resources to help us to add the ones and then the tens. As we got more confident we have learnt lots of different ways to find our answer without using any equipment to help us!
In English this week we have been planning our own stories based on 'The Book of Butterflies'. We have collected expanded noun phrases that could be used in our writing. I am really looking forward to reading all of the children's stories early next week.
In Science this week we have been learning more about keeping healthy. We went in to the hall to investigate how exercise can change the body. We found that different types of exercise can affect the body in different ways. Running definitely got us very hot and sweaty! Our hearts were beating faster and we were out of breath after just one minute. Whereas sit ups made our bodies feel tired.
In class all week we have been practising our 2 and 5 times tables. We love singing along to Percy Parker and are beginning to be able to answer some times tables questions out of order.
We are really enjoying taking part in PE with Mr Shorter, this week we played a really exciting game of Mat Ball. We can't wait to have a go at Dodgeball next week.
We hope you have a lovely weekend,
Miss Crosbie & Mrs Mills
