Welcome to Lowton Junior and Infant School, encouraging growth at every stage of your child’s development.
Friday 21st September
Hello again, welcome back to Year 5's Weekly Blog!
Thank you to all the parents that have signed up to ‘Class Dojo’. It’s a great way to see what your child has been up to in class and to see the dojos that they have been earning. If you haven’t already signed up please do so as soon as possible. If you’re having any problems signing up, then please let us know.
In English, we spent the week using Talk 4 Write, acting out our words in order to write the best possible descriptions. I loved reading some of the children’s work (especially those who changed it and made their writing unique). The children are REALLY enjoying Podkin (our class novel) and it is so lovely to see a few more of our children have purchased the book for themselves (George and Holly).
In Maths, we focused on problem solving with numbers up to 100,000. We had to explain which number was the odd one out and also count the numbers carefully using our place value skills to see why them may be different.
Well done to everyone who’s been reading regularly at home. Jorja read 7 times this week!! It’s really important that we read as much as we can. Don’t forget reading = Starbuck’s coupons.
The children have loved learning about the Vikings so far. They spent Tuesday afternoon writing the script for their Viking podcast in preparation for next week. I have also booked a Viking trip to Tatton Park on Wednesday 9th January (more info to follow).
Our ‘Pupil of the week’ was Emma.C for becoming famous on the radio!
Next week the children will be voting for this year’s school council. The children have written about why they feel they would be a good representative for our class! Our shortlist will be revealed next week…
Have a lovely weekend,
Mr Kruze and Miss Savage
