Friday 23rd June

On Monday morning we all arrived at school very excited and ready to go on our school trip to Blackpool Zoo. After taking the register, having plenty of sun cream applied and a toilet visit we were straight on the coach. It wasn’t far until Mrs Yates was asked if we were there!  When we arrived at the Zoo we were met by a member of the zoo team and taken straight to the classroom.  Whilst in the classroom we learnt more about habitats, focusing in particular on hot and cold places around the world – we also discussed how the animals had adapted to their surroundings.  We got the chance to look at lots of different artefacts such as animals skins, horns and fur.  We were able to answer lots of very tricky questions, Stephen answered so many questions that he was invited up to the front of the classroom to have a go at teaching the rest of the session! At the end of the lesson we were introduced to Puffy the bearded dragon, we all got chance the chance to stroke him.  When we left the classroom we had a bit of time to go and look around the zoo before lunch.  We saw the gorillas, camels, reindeer and penguins.  We were lucky enough to eat lunch as we were watching the sea lion show, it was amazing how clever they were.  We even saw a two week old sea lion pup. After lunch we put on some more sun cream before exploring the rest of the zoo. We had lots of fun looking at all the animals, sometimes we had to look very hard as the animals were hiding from us in the shade. There were a few sleepy heads on the way home, but also lots of chatting to each other about our amazing trip.

In English this week we have enjoyed writing all about our trip to the zoo!

On Tuesday afternoon we all got in our PE kits for Sports Day. We had lots of fun cheering on our teams and taking part in all the activities.  We loved watching all the other classes run and we enjoyed the parent/teacher race too. Well done to Freyah’s mum for coming first!

In PE on Wednesday Coach Sam taught us all about the Shot Put. Ava H was an amazing sportsman and helped other children to throw the shot put correctly. Well done Ava, this earnt you the title of pupil of the week!

On Friday afternoon reception came to visit again and we spent the afternoon in the chill zone. We all had lots of fun.

Don’t forget this Saturday it’s the PTFAs annual Summer Fair. The fair is on from 12pm-3pm.  We hope you can all come along and support the school.  There will be lots of games, a raffle, face painting and plenty to eat and drink!  This year the PTFA will be having a fancy dress competition, so please come along dressed up and join in with the fancy dress parade at 2pm.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and hope to see you on Saturday,

Miss Crosbie, Mrs Kenyon and Mrs Yates
