Mrs Alison Davies
Welcome to Lowton Junior and Infant School, encouraging growth at every stage of your child’s development.
Week commencing 23.6.17
This week has been assessment week in school and all the children have worked extremely hard in their reading, maths and grammar assessments.
In our writing we have been continuing our instructional writing: “How to turn your teacher into a toad.” We have been thinking about what equipment we would need to transform Miss Green and how exactly we would do it using specific, detailed instructions.
In maths we have been mainly focusing on assessments however, we have been recapping measure once again and considering converting measures to help compare, add and subtract. We are finding measure converting quite tricky. Yet, we are persevering and continuing to practise until we become experts.
On Tuesday, we battled the heat and glorious sunshine to participate in Miss Green’s favourite day of the year – SPORTS DAY! Year Three represented themselves brilliantly, they displayed excellent teamwork and tried their best in all of the activities. The children did brilliantly, especially considering the hot weather!
Next week in school is science week and the theme this year is “Mutiny On The Bounty” Following Captain Bligh’s voyage to safety in a small wooden boat with a team of men. We will be investigating how Bligh found safe drinking water and create our own experiment investigating how we in school can turn dirty water into safe drinking water.
I hope you have a lovely weekend and we are looking forward to seeing you bright and early Monday morning.
Miss Green, Mrs Davies and Mrs Higson
