Year 6 Blog

Friday 17th November

Welcome back to our blog. What another fabulous week it has been in Year 6!

Congratulations to Aaron, our pupil of the week. Aaron always has an excellent attitude to learning.

In Maths we have been learning how to use our times tables to find common denominators and using these to add and subtract fractions. Well done to all of our children for being resilient learners in this extremely tricky topic.

How would you solve:

2/3 + 4/12

In English we have been continuing to explore chronological reports, using cohesive devises:

  • Varying sentence structure to avoid repetition
  • Pronouns to replace common and proper nouns
  • Organising our work into paragraphs
  • Using connecting adverbs and adverbials within and across our paragraphs

Everyone tried really hard and created some fantastic, cohesive writing. Well done Year 6.

The children are thoroughly enjoying their class novel and we are up to a really exciting part. Please ask us about this at home.

Apparently, we are going to have some cold but mostly dry weather over the weekend.

See you on Monday.

Mrs Price, Mrs Anderson and Miss Hughes.
