Year 6 Blog
Friday 16th February
Welcome back to our weekly blog.
What another exciting week we have had.
We have had a few treats this week including a visit from The Pop Project. We delighted in joining in the songs, dancing and dressing up. We learned all about books from British Literature such as Treasure Island, Alice in Wonderland and a few modern day classics too. We also took part in a workshop with M&M Productions following their wonderful performance of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. These two delights have given us some great ideas for dressing up on Thursday 1st March…World Book Day.
Please help us design and make our costumes.
We have also been working hard in maths, solving ratio problems. Look at the recipe below.
200g dark chocolate.
100g unsalted butter, very soft.
250g caster sugar.
4 large free range eggs, beaten to mix.
60g plain flour.
60g cocoa powder
How much chocolate would we need if we only had 1 egg?
How much butter would we need if we wanted to make 30 chocolate brownies?
In English we have been considering the question…who was responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet?
All of the children had good ideas and could back up the answers with evidence from the text.
We also showed off how well we can use formal language and different verb forms by writing a newspaper report to report the tragic deaths of the two young lovers.
Have a restful half term.
