Welcome to Lowton Junior and Infant School, encouraging growth at every stage of your child’s development.
Friday 22nd September
Welcome back to our Year 6 blog.
What a busy week we have had again!
Congratulations to Cameron – our pupil of the week.
We would also like to congratulate Mia Louisa and Jonathon – our Y6 School Council Representatives.
In English we have been learning how to identify clauses within a multi-clause sentence and also how to add description, action and dialogue to our writing. It all sounds very tricky but Year 6 have it all under control.
At the beginning of this week in maths, we further developed our knowledge of negative numbers by solving problems related to temperature. We even attempted some SATs style questions. At the end of the week we began using formal written methods to solve addition and subtraction problems. Our teachers think we are amazing!
Today, we were invited to spend a transition day at Golborne High School. We have had a fabulous day trying our hand at bush craft, archery, bike riding and orienteering. Bush craft was a huge success, as not only could we make dens, but we also dabbled with fire using flints. I’m sure you can guess which event was most popular. On Golborne High School’s Facebook page, you will find lots of photographs from the day.
Please can we remind you that we are visiting Lowton High School on Thursday. We need to be smart in our school uniform.
Next week’s weather is set to be a mixed bag of showers and sunshine.
Have a lovely weekend!
