At Lowton J and I we have a very conscientious and committed team of eCadets. They meet weekly after school and have different challenges to complete. The eCadets are children from Key Stage 2. Four of the current children were also eCadets last year.
In order to recruit more eCadets, the original 4 children have had several meetings in order to discuss what they were looking for in new members. We decided they had to be overall good communicators as well as being concerned about the safety of others. Lots of children wanted to join the eCadets team so to help us choose the most suitable children we set everyone a challenge:- to design an e-safety poster. The eCadets then used these posters to help them shortlist candidates for interview. Everyone took the interviews very seriously, the standard was high and it was a tough decision. But finally we managed to appoint our new eCadets. Thank you to all for applying.
We have recently had Internet Safety Day 2017. All the members have been busy planning what to cover in their class about e-safety. Firstly we watched and discussed an e-safety film that the eCadets then showed to their class. The eCadets are learning to lead the sessions in class so as to share vital information with their peers. Some children were asked by eCadets to complete pledges of how they could unite for a better internet and they shared e-safety top tips for with class members. On Thursday we had a special sharing assembly and the eCadets feedback to the whole school about children in their class and how they could help make the internet a safer and kinder place.
Currently we are working on digital footprints. The eCadets are learning more about what digital footprints are and how we create them, (sometimes without even realising) We are all taking responsibility for our digital footprint and trying to ensure that it is one to be proud of! The eCadets are gathering information together ready to share with their class members. Do you know what your digital footprint is like?
