Welcome to your PTFA!
Lowton Junior & Infant School has had a successful, committed, and hardworking Parent, Teacher and Friend’s Association (PTFA) for many years. The money that we raise is spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education, the facilities in school in general and subsidising school trips.
We have provided extra-curricular activities for the children and their families, such as: competitions, discos, fun days, bingo nights, Easter eggstravagansa, and Summer and Christmas Fayres. Some of these activities not only help to raise funds but bring us together as a community – to have fun and to socialise. We also raise funds by:
- Gift aid (as we are a registered charity)
- Sponsored activities – for example our Annual Sponsored Bounce! In order to continue to do this, we need the support of parents. As parents, you are automatically members of the PTFA (together with all of the staff). The PTFA committee meet in a very informal way approximately once a term (a little more often in the run up to events). The meetings last about an hour and serve the purpose of discussing events planned for the children. We would love to see you at one (or lots!) of our meetings. Members have become friends over the years and enjoy sharing other news with each other as well.
PTFA Contacts 2018-2019
Chairperson - Vikki Davies – Mum to Alice (Y2)
Secretary - Yvette Merga – Mum to Finley (Y2)
Treasurer - Lisa Elvin – Mum to Alex (Y2) and Emily (Y1)
You do not have to become a member of the committee to help out at any of the events. Just ask! We really do welcome new faces and need your support in order to survive! If you do become a member of the committee, there is no obligation to attend every meeting.
If you have any questions, please just ask. You can contact us via the school office or in the playground. You can also follow us on Facebook (Lowton J&I PTFA) If you want to be contacted by text about meetings, please forward your number to me and I can keep you informed. You will also receive a PTFA newsletter each term, sent home with your child, with details of all forthcoming meetings and events in addition to any news that we’d like to share with you.
We are very fortunate at our school to have a PTFA that is and has been such an integral part of the school community for many years. Please help us continue to go forward and support in any way that you can.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Vikki Davies, Chairperson.
