The importance of your child's attendance at school

Having a good education will help to give your child the best possible start in life.

It is essential that if your child is going to be off school, that you contact the school office on 01942 673213 by 9am giving your reason.

If your child is having an unsual amount of time off school, you will be contacted in the first instance by the Learning Mentor, who will try to ascertain the reason for this.

If for any reason your child is unhappy, please come and talk to us. We will do everything in our power to resolve the situation and ensure that your child returns to the happy, healthy school environment that we want for every pupil.

Holidays in Term Time

Term time holidays - the facts

We recognise that it often costs more to go on holiday during school holiday periods.

Because of this, we know that sometimes parents or carers may ask if they can take their children out of school during term time so that they can take them away on holiday.  However, it is important that parents and carers consider carefully the implications of taking their child out of school during term time.

Taking your children out of school may affect their education

  • They may find it difficult to catch up on work they've missed
  • Sometimes, if children already struggle with subjects, they may find it even harder when they return
  • Younger children may struggle to get back into their friendship groups after a break

Term time holidays - The Headteacher's decision

All holidays taken during school term time will be unauthorised and may result in a fine.  The new law is that fines apply to each parent, per child.
