Managing Medicines

Prescribed Medication

If your child has prescribed medication for an on going medical condition you must complete a health care plan with the class teacher.  The medication must be clearly labelled by the dispensing pharmacy with your child's name, date and correct dosage to be administered.

Asthma

All inhalers should be brought into school displaying a pharmacy label with your child's name and dosage.  It is the parents responsibility to ensure that all medications are in date and checked on a regular basis.

Short Term Medicines and Non Prescribed

If a child requires short term medicine, parents should complete a medical form with the school office staff. Medication should be clearly labelled with your child's name and the correct dosage to be administered.  We are able to allow non prescribed medication such as lip balm, cold sore cream, throat lozenges, but not over the counter bought pain killers, cough medicine or anti histamine.  Please check with the school office if you are unsure. You are of course welcome to come into school to administer these yourself.

Allergies

Parents must inform school of any allergies and ensure that medication is always provided.  Following the same advice for prescription or non prescribed medication as detailed above.
